Every student deserves equal access to learning. BFW Publishers strives to provide course materials that are built for inclusivity—so educators can focus on teaching, not troubleshooting accessibility barriers.
E-Books: Designed for All Learners
E-books in EPUB3 format provide a seamless experience for students with diverse needs.
BFW Publishers e-books are Global Certified Accessible by Benetech and winners of the Accessible Books Consortium’s International Excellence Award for Accessible Publishing (2020).
Resizable, reflowable, and readable at 400% magnification.
Supports page and heading navigation for quick reference.
Logical reading order and full keyboard navigation ensure smooth interaction.
Printing up to 10 pages at a time and copy/pasting up to two pages is allowed.
Metadata is included within each of our e-books and lists accessibility features including clearly defined reading order and page numbers for easier navigation.
EPUB: The Best Format for Digital Textbooks
For the most accessible experience, EPUB files are recommended. An EPUB is a file that contains and packages content (much like a .zip extension). It utilizes markup in HTML, XML, and CSS, and is the standard for accessible e-books. EPUBs:
Work seamlessly with assistive technology.
Include structured metadata for clear reading order and page numbers.
Are available DRM-free through BookShare, or directly upon request. (Note: Some third party retailers may apply DRM to our e-book files when they are available for sale.)
Images, Video & Simulations
BFW Publishers ensures that multimedia content supports all learners, making courses more accessible for every student.
All visuals include alternative text (short and long descriptions as needed).
Closed captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions (introduced in 2019) ensure accessibility.
