BFW Publishers Accessibility

BFW Initiatives

BFW Publishers is updating legacy content and embedding WCAG 2.1 AA standards into all future products. Beyond internal efforts, staff actively contribute to industry groups like W3C and BISG to shape accessibility standards. For feedback, contact webaccessibility@macmillan.com. We also support global disability initiatives and collaborate with assistive technology developers to enhance compatibility.

Accessibility Advisory Board

In 2018, we formed an Accessibility Advisory Board where we discuss and problem-solve accessibility issues that universities and students are experiencing on a daily basis. This advisory board has participants from Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Radford University, University of Colorado Boulder, Olympic College, Our Lady of the Lake University, University of Illinois Chicago, Mount Holyoke College, Michigan Technological University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University Of North Texas, and more.

Employee Support

AVID@ML: Supporting Employees with Disabilities

The Awareness of Visible & Invisible Disabilities (AVID@ML) Employee Resource Community provides a space for employees to share experiences, raise awareness, and advocate for accessibility. It also advises senior leadership on policies that foster an inclusive and supportive workplace. BFW Publishers embraces a broad definition of disability, recognizing individuals who face barriers due to physical, mental, neurological, or other conditions. Through education initiatives, AVID@ML helps empower employees and strengthen accessibility efforts.

Leadership Commitment to Inclusion

A dedicated cross-functional leadership group ensures accessibility and inclusion are embedded into company strategies. This group works closely with business leaders to align policies and practices that support a more equitable and accessible work environment.

By prioritizing accessibility at every level, BFW Publishers is creating a workplace and learning environment where everyone can thrive.
