New to This Edition
- Calculations account for up to 30% of AP® Economics MCQs and FRQ points. Show Your Work! features give students hands-on practice with numerical analysis by presenting worked examples and step-by-step guidance placed immediately after relevant content. Students get a low-stakes first opportunity to work through calculation questions, then can return to the feature for review and formative practice as they strengthen their numerical analysis skills.
- Personalized Support in Achieve gives students additional ways to get help, practice concepts, and check their understanding both in and out of the classroom.
- New! AI Tutor provides on-demand 24/7 support as students work through course concepts and questions.
- New! LearningCurve Adaptive Quizzing adjusts practice based on student understanding, helping reinforce key economic concepts and identify areas that need additional attention.
- New! Interactive Figures let students manipulate select graphs, helping them explore economic relationships and see how changing variables affect models and outcomes.
- Greater Emphasis on Graphing Instruction and Practice provides more opportunities to develop the graphical analysis skills central to AP® Economics. The visual program has been expanded to include more graphs illustrating key models and real-world data to reinforce key concepts. Additional graph-focused questions provide targeted practice in end-of-module and end-of-unit assessments. Interactive Figures in Achieve extend that practice with hands-on exploration of economic models.
- More Formative and Summative Assessments provides additional opportunities to check understanding and reinforce learning throughout the course. Updated Module Reviews now include 10 multiple-choice questions, and Unit Reviews include 30 questions.
- Revised Macroeconomics Coverage reflects the current AP® Course and Exam Description update with revised coverage of monetary policy and the Ample Reserves Framework, focused Economic Growth principles in Macro Unit 5, expanded Open Economy content in Macro Unit 6, and modernized Circular Flow models across Macro Units 2, 3, 4, and 6.
This is (by far) the best econ textbook for AP students…I have always thought that the biggest flaw of any textbook is that the questions typically don’t resemble what students would see on the AP Exam. These questions, however, are fairly close to what AP-style questions should look like…I think there are numerous examples of graphing, manipulating graphs, and there are a number of models for students to understand…The graphs are great and more realistic than many textbooks, and the questions that go along with each section are difficult enough to make students have to think. Well done.
- Matt Pedlow, from Macro Unit 1 content review
I LOVE THIS [the Show Your Work! feature]. So many textbooks make too large of leaps from basic ideas to application. This is a great bridge…I would certainly use them in my college-level course as group work to reinforce concepts before assignments/assessments are completed.
- Julia Frankland, from Macro Unit 1 content review
The way the material is presented is so much better than the typical econ textbook, especially those designed for college classrooms. The rigor is there but it’s nothing so in depth that high school students won’t be able to understand…What I really like are the sample FRQ questions- the way you have designed them is that they will build on each other as the modules progress. For instance- having them just calculate nominal GDP at the beginning, then adding in Real GDP calculations later, this is great for students.
